Babbel is headquartered in Berlin and has an office in New York City, where this position is based.

We are looking for an experienced Global Director of Organic Content to oversee all aspects of the content production across owned channels and all media formats: blog (Babbel Magazine), social, audio, and video. The position will be responsible for producing and maintaining SEO content and collaborating with our learning media team to create some of the media content that appears in the Babbel product. 

Roles & Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the global CRO with teams in both the US and Berlin, you will work across a wide range of media formats to create top-of-funnel content experiences. The success of your team's work will be measured primarily in eyeballs (traffic), with a secondary focus on lead production and a tertiary focus on conversation to sale. We believe that content marketing is critically important to attracting a motivated, aspiring audience of language learners, and you will lead the team with broad reach and impact.

While your primary focus is owned media, you will collaborate with the performance marketing teams, PR, and Impact teams to amplify our paid and earned media.  

Responsibilities

  • Oversee team of content producers in both offices; hire, mentor, and establish appropriate team structure
  • Lead key projects, some brainstorms, and establish collaborations with other departments and stakeholders
  • Work closely with our team of "hero teachers" to maximize the impact from their content production, particularly video 
  • Spur the team to do their best work; clear obstacles and roadblocks; provide external benchmarks and help them keep fresh and seek out new challenges 
  • Train, delegate, and trust, but be able to serve as arbiter of quality as needed
  • Lead the partnership with "learning media" to produce top-quality media for inclusion in the Babbel app, supporting our focus on learner success
  • Liaise with product and tech to ensure that our publishing and monitoring tools support our goals
  • Establish and monitor goals and KPIs, with a particular focus on traffic, reach, and engagement

Ideal background and expertise

  • 8+ years of experience in content production across media types
  • Managerial experience, ideally in international settings
  • Enthusiasm for social media and language learning
  • SEO expertise or at least working knowledge
  • Experience with digital products, apps, subscription business models or SAAS software a plus

This position is based in our NYC office under a hybrid model: office-based but some WFH possible.
